Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Sauce:
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
    • 1/4 cup heavy cream
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Gnocchi and Toppings:
    • 1 lb potato gnocchi
    • 1 ball of burrata cheese
    • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
    • Grated Parmesan cheese, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Heat it up!

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Toss in the chopped onion and let it dance until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and smoked paprika, stirring for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 2: Create the sauce

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, give it a good stir, and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes. Then, add the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Let everything simmer together for another few minutes.

Step 3: Cook the gnocchi

Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the gnocchi according to package instructions. Once they float to the top, they are ready. Drain and transfer them to the tomato sauce.

Step 4: Combine it all

Mix the gnocchi gently into the creamy tomato sauce until they are beautifully coated.

Step 5: Plate it up

Plate the gnocchi mixture and place a glorious ball of burrata right in the center of each serving.

Step 6: Garnish and serve

Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious Italian flavors!

Notes

Tip 1

Make sure the gnocchi is cooked until they float in the water, as this indicates they are done.

Tip 2

For a bit of spice, consider adding red pepper flakes to the sauce while it simmers.

Tip 3

Burrata cheese can be replaced with fresh mozzarella if you prefer a different texture.

Tip 4

To enhance the dish, serve with crusty bread for dipping in the creamy sauce.
