Ingredients
- Extra-firm tofu, 14 oz
- Vegetable oil, 2 tbsp
- Rice vinegar, 1 tbsp
- Maple syrup, 2 tbsp
- Sriracha, 1-2 tbsp (adjust to taste)
- Mayonnaise, 1/3 cup (use vegan for a plant-based option)
- Garlic powder, 1 tsp
- Green onions, 2 (sliced for garnish)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Tofu
Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess water. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes.
Step 2: Cut the Tofu
Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or slabs, depending on your preference.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, and Sriracha to create the bang bang sauce.
Step 4: Coat the Tofu
Toss the cubed tofu in the sauce until well coated, allowing it to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Step 5: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) while the tofu marinates.
Step 6: Bake the Tofu
Spread the marinated tofu on a lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Step 7: Serve
Once baked, remove the tofu from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your bang bang tofu as a main course or a side dish.
