Description

Get ready to say hola to your new sweet obsession with these Easy Authentic Churros! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and dusted with cinnamon sugar magic—these delightful treats are perfect for indulging at home or impressing your amigos. Making churros from scratch has never been easier, and soon enough, you’ll find yourself craving this delectable snack over and over again!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Liquid Mixture

Grab a medium saucepan and mix water, granulated sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Create the Dough

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from the heat and stir in the all-purpose flour until you achieve a smooth dough. Allow the dough to cool for about 10 minutes.

Step 3: Heat the Oil

In a large pan, heat 2 quarts of oil to around 375°F (190°C) for frying the churros.

Step 4: Prepare for Piping

Load your cooled dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip for that perfect churro shape.

Step 5: Fry the Churros

Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil carefully. Fry the churros until they are golden and crispy, approximately 2 minutes on each side. Once done, drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 6: Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Toss the fried churros in this mixture until they are thoroughly coated in sweet, spicy goodness.

Notes

Tip for Piping

Ensure that the dough is not too hot when placing it in the piping bag, as this may cause the bag to melt or burst.

Oil Temperature

Use a kitchen thermometer to keep track of the oil temperature; if it’s too cool, churros will become greasy, and if it’s too hot, they may burn quickly.

Serving Suggestion

Serve churros warm for the best texture and flavor. They are delightful on their own or paired with chocolate sauce for dipping.
