Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
Instructions
Step 1: Sauté the Meat and Onions
Set your Instant Pot to sauté mode and add 1 pound of ground beef along with 1 large chopped onion. Cook the mixture until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. During the last minute of sautéing, add 3 cloves of minced garlic.
Step 2: Prepare for Pressure Cooking
Turn off the sauté mode. If there is excess grease, drain it. Add 2 cups of water or beef broth and gently mix to combine.
Step 3: Add Flavor Boosters
Add a can of 15 ounces tomato sauce, a can of 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes (undrained), 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Stir to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
Step 4: Layer the Pasta
Spread 2 cups of elbow macaroni evenly over the top of the mixture. Press it gently so that it is just covered by the liquid, but do not stir.
Step 5: Cook Under Pressure
Secure the lid on your Instant Pot. Set it to high pressure for 4 minutes. Once the cooking time is complete, perform a quick pressure release cautiously.
Step 6: Final Stir and Serve
Open the lid and give everything a good stir. Your delicious Instant Pot Goulash is ready to be served!
