- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cauliflower
Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Make sure to wash and dry them properly.
Step 2: Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, water, and spices. Whisk until you have a smooth batter.
Step 3: Coat the Cauliflower
Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring they’re fully coated.
Step 4: Heat the Oil
In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (180°C). Use enough oil to submerge the cauliflower.
Step 5: Fry the Cauliflower
Carefully add the coated cauliflower to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 6: Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the cauliflower and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt while hot.
Step 7: Serve
Serve the fried cauliflower immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.
Notes
Fresh Cauliflower is Best
For the best texture and flavor, use fresh cauliflower rather than frozen.
Adjust the Spices to Taste
Feel free to alter the spice levels in the batter according to your preference.
Storing Leftovers
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in an oven or air fryer for optimal crispness.
