  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 5-6 jars 1x

Description

Dive into the delightful world of Mandarin Marmalade, a homemade treat that promises to spread joy on your morning toast! Bursting with vibrant flavors, this zesty preserve is made without any pectin, allowing the natural essence of the mandarins and lemon to shine through. So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get jamming!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Mandarin Delight:
    • 1 kilogram (about 2.2 lbs) of fresh mandarins
    • 1 lemon
  • Sweet Symphony:
    • 500600 grams (2.5 to 3 cups) of granulated sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Wash and Prepare

First, give those mandarins and lemon a good wash. Peel the mandarins and chop ‘em up. Remember to remove any seeds!

Step 2: Zest and Juice

Grate the zest of the lemon and then juice it. No pits, please!

Step 3: Combine Ingredients

Toss the mandarin pieces, lemon zest, and lemon juice into a large pot. Bring to a bubble over medium heat while stirring occasionally.

Step 4: Add Sugar

Once it’s nice and bubbly, let’s make it sweet! Gradually add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves completely.

Step 5: Simmer

Keep things simmering for about an hour, stirring often. You’ll know it’s ready when the marmalade passes the wrinkle test on a chilled plate.

Step 6: Jar and Seal

Pour the hot marmalade into sterilized jars. Seal them up and let them cool. Voilà! Marmalade magic!

Notes

Storage

Store the sealed jars of marmalade in a cool, dark place. Once opened, keep refrigerated.
