  • Author: Mari
  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 4 cups

Description

Peach butter is a luscious spread that captures the essence of summer in a jar. This recipe allows you to transform fresh peaches into a smooth and creamy delicacy, ideal for spreading on toast, adding to desserts, or simply enjoying by the spoonful. With its rich flavor and delightful aroma, peach butter makes for a wonderful homemade gift or a lovely addition to your breakfast table.

Ingredients

  • Fresh peaches, pitted and diced
  • Sugar
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Peaches

Wash and slice the peaches . Remove the pits and chop them into smaller pieces for easier cooking.

Step 2: Cook the Peaches

In a large pot, combine sliced peaches with sugar and spices . Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the peaches are soft and the mixture begins to bubble.

Step 3: Blend the Mixture

Once the peaches have cooked down, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.

Step 4: Simmer the Butter

Reduce heat and let the peach puree simmer for about an hour, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

Step 5: Can the Peach Butter

Once the butter reaches the desired consistency, prepare your canning jars . Fill each jar with the hot peach butter and seal according to canning instructions.

Step 6: Process the Jars

Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 to 15 minutes to ensure they are sealed properly.

Step 7: Cool and Store

Remove the jars from the water and allow them to cool completely before storing them in a cool, dark place.

Notes

Adjusting Sweetness

You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference. If you prefer a less sweet butter, reduce the sugar amount.

Choosing Peaches

Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor. Freestone peaches are easier to pit and work well for this recipe.

Storage Tips

Store any unopened jars in a cool, dark place. Once opened, refrigerate and use within a few weeks.
