Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of spaghetti
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 taco seasoning packet
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of sliced green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sour cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned. Make sure to break up the meat as it cooks to ensure even cooking.

Step 2: Add Vegetables

Once the meat is fully cooked, add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent.

Step 3: Incorporate Spices

Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and let the spices infuse the mixture for a couple of minutes.

Step 4: Combine with Spaghetti

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet along with a can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Stir everything together until combined.

Step 5: Simmer

Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 6: Add Cheese

Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the skillet and cover it. Allow the cheese to melt, which should take about 5 minutes.

Step 7: Serve

Once the cheese is melted, remove the skillet from the heat and serve the taco spaghetti hot. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions if desired.

Notes

Note 1: Variations

Feel free to customize this dish by adding your favorite toppings such as jalapeños, olives, or avocado for extra flavor and texture.

Note 2: Leftovers

Taco spaghetti stores well in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving.

Note 3: Spicy Option

For those who enjoy spicy food, consider adding diced green chilies or hot sauce to the meat mixture for an additional kick.
