Ingredients
- 8 ounces of spaghetti
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 taco seasoning packet
- 2 cups of water
- 1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of sliced green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sour cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned. Make sure to break up the meat as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
Once the meat is fully cooked, add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent.
Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and let the spices infuse the mixture for a couple of minutes.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet along with a can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Stir everything together until combined.
Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the skillet and cover it. Allow the cheese to melt, which should take about 5 minutes.
Once the cheese is melted, remove the skillet from the heat and serve the taco spaghetti hot. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions if desired.
